Revising 5 tenses for Y9 (topic - healty living)

(1)
2 lessons for the end of a healthy living topic with a middle set Y9 group, focusing on understanding of when to use the present, perfect, imperfect, near future and future tenses. Pupils have previously covered these tenses in all subjects, but I am focusing on the je form in these revision lessons to simplify things a bit and increase the chance that they can use the tenses in their upcoming written exam. If you're looking for something more highbrow for top set or for Y10 and 11, I have a series of lessons on conjugation in my resources.

Healthy eating - reasons/frequency of food groups

(1)
Card sort and grid for recording information. Pupils each have a grid, and have a set of cards in groups of 2-3. They match the reasons (bullet-pointed cards) and frequency with which the food should be eaten to the foods in the grid and record the information. Links in with knowledge of food groups/healthy living from science or food tech.

'Au revoir les enfants' reading - background

(2)
A reading task about the real figure behind the character of 'Pere Jean&' in the film &';Au revoir les enfants' (information taken from wikipedia). I have a mixed ability class, so gave some pupils the version with line numbers as clues to help them cope with the text which is fairly challenging for Y9. Pupils seemed really interested and shocked by the fact that it was a real-life story, so I hope it works well for you too.
Quantities &containers card sort - thinking skills

Quantities &containers card sort - thinking skills

(1)
Card sort to introduce food quantities and containers. Pupils have to match starts and ends of phrases (eg: une bouteille... ...d'eau, une canette... ...de coca) based on what makes most sense. There is more than one right answer to some. Works best if you print each sheet on a different colour of card, then swap the top and bottom half of the grid around so you have 2 different colours in each envelope - quicker for pupils to see which are the starts and ends of phrases that way.

Comprehension Qs then find various features, in an account of work placement. Produced for a high ability Year 10 group. Had just revised the perfect tense ready to write their own account of work placement the following week. I think I may have adapted the text from something found on here so if you recognise it as your own, many thanks. :)
Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

(1)
Reading activity suitable for KS4 or high ability Y9. For my mixed ability Y9 class I added paragraph numbers and references for each question on some copies, which helped a bit, but was still too challenging really so I'd save it for top set if you have one! Pupils identify tenses (I did this first, then went through answers before moving on to comprehension) then answer questions about the text. Extension task to extend vocabulary for more able.

French perfect tense revision quiz

(2)
Pupils had covered perfect tense during module on hobbies/leisure in the previous term but had had a bit of a break from it. Used quiz to get them thinking about it again and prepare to apply it to the current topic. Could use to test how much they remember, or let them use their exercise books (opportunity for them to evaluate how good their note-taking is and if their books will help them revise).

When they finish, start filling in the grid. As extension or homework - fill in the 3rd column with a job title (in French) that goes with the reason - there is more than one possible answer for this.
